German mechanical engineering firm Voith has bagged the order for producing carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) for models that carmaker Audi will produce in future.
With both the firms joining hands to organize the ramp-up for the CFRP component, the initiative exemplifies industrialization of composite production.
In that direction, Voith Composite was founded by Voith in Garching in 2010 for developing the CFRP products under the company's umbrella.
Voith president and CEO Dr. Hubert Lienhard said: "The order awarded for the high-volume production of a CFRP component is the outcome of the good cooperation and trust between Audi and Voith over the last five years.
"We have come a long way in the field of the industrialization of production processes using carbon fibers. The order from Audi is an important step in the further development of this future-oriented business."
This bagging of order comes after a pact was inked between the companies in 2011. The agreement was aimed at promoting the development and automated production of fiber-reinforced materials for use in future Audi models.
Voith, which operates in around 50 countries, caters to the sectors, such as, energy, oil & gas, paper, raw materials, transport and automotive.
