BMW has announced to offer three new engines and the intelligent all-wheel drive system BMW xDrive to the recently launched BMW 2 Series Active Tourer.
The company is planning to add two diesel engines, which would be an addition to the existing range provided by the German car maker, and offer a 4-cylinder petrol engine by November 2014.
The 4-cylinder 2.0-litre petrol engine added to the BMW 220i Active Tourer will provide 192 horsepower at 4,700 rpm, and it will be able to pump maximum torque of 280 Nm at 1,250 rpm.
After the new engine is added, BMW 220i will be able to accelerate 0-100 km/h in 7.5 seconds and will be able to achieve top speed of 230 km/h.
When the BMW 216d Active Tourer will be powered by 3-cylinder diesel engine, it will be able to produce 116 horsepower and pump 270 Nm of torque, and accelerate from 0- 100 km/h in 10.6 seconds.
The new cylinder is engineered to reduce the fuel consumption to 3.9-3.8 l/100 km.
The company's other diesel engine, a 4-cylinder diesel engine which has been designed for the BMW 220d Active Tourer will have fuel consumption of 4.5-4.4 l/100 km.
The new all-wheel drive system is designed to optimize ride stability and traction in all weather and road conditions.
