Honda Recalls 250, 000 Vehicles Over Braking Defect

Honda has recalled approximately 250,000 vehicles around the world to correct a defect with the cars’ braking systems.

Honda explains a fault with the electronic stability control ECU circuit board of affected vehicles can lead to the brakes being applied momentarily, whether the brake pedal is applied or not.

Honda says the electronic stability control warning light will illuminate in these instances but the brake lights will not illuminate unless the brake pedal is applied.

The recall affects 959 Honda MDX SUVs sold in Australia in 2005, as well as 183,000 vehicles sold in the US and 57,000 in Japan.

Honda said the local recall was prompted by reported cases in Japan, and confirmed there have been no reported accidents and injuries relating to the defect.

Honda Australia is contacting owners of affected vehicles by mail encouraging them to arrange a time to complete the recall service, which will be conducted free of charge.
