Japanese automotive company Nissan Motor is planning to recall 908,900 vehicles across the world, including 764,800 in Japan due to a defect in the accelerator sensor that could cause the engine to stall.
This defect can also make the accelerator pedal's sensor unstable, potentially resulting in less-than-intended acceleration and in the worst case, a stalled engine.
However, the company has not received any accidents or injury reports from the customers to date.
Vehicles under this recall were produced in Japan between 2004 and 2013. Models such as Serena, X-Trail, Lafesta and Fuga will be recalled in Japan.
The company will recall 98,300 vehicles including certain Infiniti M models in the US and some vehicles in other regions including Europe and Oceania.
If returned, the company will replace the accelerator pedals and will fix the engine control programming to address the problem.
