BMW Group is set to open a driving center in Incheon, Korea, with an investment of $75.5m -- the company’s first such facility in Asia.
The driving center concept is a part of BMW's Future Retail strategy, which includes city center brand stores and city sales outlets.
Scheduled to open in early August 2014, the 240,000m2 center will combine a driving track and a brand experience, and it complements the company's existing centers in Germany and the US.
It will feature a 2.6km closed circuit track where drivers can experience various situations such as high-speed driving, emergency and off-road techniques, using BMW and MINI vehicles.
The facilities will also showcase around BMW, MINI and BMW Motorrad vehicles, have a new junior campus with tailored science education programs on mobility and road safety, and a sports park.
BMW board member Ian Robertson said: "The Driving Center is the next step in our commitment to Korea and to Asia."
"Korea is one of our fastest growing markets and now our ninth largest single market worldwide. We see more potential here and wish to grow even further."
