Honda Siel Cars India's sales decreased 20.8% to 5,470 units in August 2012, compared to 6907 units sold during the corresponding month last year.
In August 2012, the company sold 2,536 units of its City sedan and 2,335 units of small car Brio.
The company sold 465 units of Jazz, 53 units of sedan Civic, 34 units of Accord and 47 units of sports utility vehicle CR-V in August 2012.
During April - August 2012 period, the company's sales increased 54% to 29,932 units, compared to 19,433 units during the same period last year.
Honda Siel Cars India senior vice president of sales and marketing Jnaneswar Sen said, "The macroeconomic indicators are not very encouraging and the general inflationary trends have led to low consumer sentiments affecting the demand of cars."
Honda Siel Cars India is a joint venture between Japanese auto major Honda and the Siel Group.
