In Orion Assembly plant, the compnay will invest $160 m for tooling and equipment while $40m will be invested in Pontiac Metal Center for new dies.

The $200m investment is a part of the previously announced Michigan-based investments of $300 m by the company CEO Mary Barra; it also brings the total investment in Orion Assembly and the Pontiac Metal Center to $775m since 2010.

In 2010, General Motors invested $545m in Orion Assembly to launch the Chevrolet Sonic and Buick Verano.

General Motors announced that the latest round of investment will not result in creation of new jobs.

Speaking about the investment Michigan Governor Rick Snyder said: "This major investment by GM underscores Michigan's leadership in the automotive industry and reflects a broad-based confidence among job providers that our state is the place to do business.

"We appreciate GM's ongoing contributions to Michigan and will continue our work to create an environment that keeps the economy driving forward."
