Subaru, the automobile manufacturing unit of Fuji Heavy Industries (FHI), has introduced the new WRX saloon concept at the ongoing New York auto show.
The new concept is derived from the carmaker's existing Impreza sedan platform and its carbon fibre roof panel is aimed at reducing overall weight and cut-down its center of gravity.
According to the carmaker, the production of the WRX saloon is expected to be powered by a turbocharged version of the 2.0L FA boxer engine incorporating a Subaru-specific direct injection system with improved turbo technology.
The engine is expected to produce an output of 300bhp and 195kW/343Nm of torque.
The saloon's all wheel drive system (AWD) is aimed at allowing users with enhanced control during any kind of driving conditions.
Features of the saloon include 245/40ZR20 Dunlop tires incorporated into BBS RI-D One Piece Forged Duralumin wheels.
Subaru is anticipating to launch the production version of WRX saloon in 2014.
