Japanese carmaker Nissan is planning to build a new $785m plant in North Eastern part of China.
The new facility in Dalian city is part of the carmaker's 4.7bn (CNY30bn) investment plan in China by the end of 2015, to compete with other rivals and expand into emerging markets
Nissan is planning to begin the construction on the new plant, later this month, which will manufacture SUVs, sedans and MPVs.
According to Nissan, the new plant, which is jointly-owned by Nissan and its Chinese partner Dongfeng Motor Group, will have an initial capacity to produce 25,000 cars after it becomes oeprational by 2014.
The capacity would be increased up to 120,000 by 2015 and 240,000 by 2017, according to Reuters.
Further, to speed up its Chinese expansion, Nissan will begin manufacturing its Infiniti cars at a $315m Xiangyang plant in the central Hubei province by 2014.
Nissan reported 21.9% rise in its sales in China to 1.25 million vehicles during 2011, over the year ago period and the carmaker is aiming to increase its sales in the region to 2.3 million vehicles by 2015.
