Nissan Motor announced Feb 25, they plans to launch a new model passenger car DATSUN Brand in Africa by the end of 2014.
Noriko Yoneyama, the spokesman of Nissan Motor, said that DATSUN Brand’s sales price in Africa will not higher than 1 million yens (10,700 US dollars), but the company did not decide where to produce the new model.
Nissan’s African production and sales in 2012 were 44 thousand units and 50 thousand units respectively. The company once said last year they would invest 113 million US dollars in Africa. They plan to double the local production capacity by 2016.
It has been 30 years that DATSUN Brand was out of the market since 1981. Nissan Motor announced to revive DATSUN Brand in March, 2012. The company also plans to launch the new model in the emerging markets such as India, Indonesia, Russia and South Africa in 2014.
