Health care supply chain and contracting company Novation has awarded an innovative technology contract to Nihon Kohden America to provide its continuous vital signs monitoring system.
Under the three year contract, Novation's members including more than 65,000 members and affiliates of VHA, UHC, Children's Hospital Association and Provista will have access to Nihon's Prefense Early Detection and Notification system, thus allowing to improve healthcare quality and patient safety.
Novation procurement and innovative technology director Debbie Archer said, "Novation's Innovative Technology Program allows us to work with member councils and task forces to identify and review new or innovative technology like this that provides an incremental clinical benefit over existing products."
Nihon Kohden America monitoring vice president Mike Dashefsky said in the past, monitoring patients' vital signs continuously has been expensive to implement in all areas of the hospital.
"The cost effectiveness of Prefense allows monitoring to be performed anywhere in the hospital with better patient outcomes, improved economics and fewer unplanned ICU / telemetry transfers," Dashefsky added.
