The Leading End-Use Segments in 2011 Were Construction

Global polyvinyl chloride (PVC) demand is estimated to show a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 4.9% until 2020, pushing the market up to 49.5m tons.

The demand for PVC, which was 22.2m tons in 2000, rose to 32.3m tons in 2011, according to a report from GBI Research.

65% of the demand is expected to come from Asia, with China responsible for the majority.

The leading end-use segments in 2011 were construction, with 17m tons, packaging with 3.7m tons and electrical, with 2.7m tons.

Automotive, agriculture, footwear and other end-use sectors accounted for the remainder, said European Plastics News.
