KIA Is Planning to Recall 25,192 Vehicles in The UK Over a Defective Brake Light Switch

South Korean automobile manufacturer Kia Motors is planning to recall 25,192 vehicles in the UK over a defective brake light switch.

The recall affects vehicles manufactured between 2006 and 2011 in the UK that include the Carens, Sedona, Sorento and Sportage models as well as Soul and Optima models.

According to the company, the glitch in the switch was discovered during its on-going monitoring of vehicle operations and Research and Development checks.

The defective switch may cause the vehicle's rear brake lights to not illuminate when the brake is pressed or may not turn off after the brake pedal is released, due to the carbonization on the switch contacts that can lead to interruption of the electric current.

The braking performance or the operation of anti-lock brakes in the vehicles is not affected by the problem.

Earlier, the manufacturer had recalled 623,658 vehicles in the US, over a problem in the push start switch.
