JLR Has Started Installing a New Servo Stamping Line

British luxury car maker Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has started installing a new servo stamping line at its Halewood operations in England, with an investment of GBP45m.

The new stamping line, which is 3m tall and more than 85m long, has a combined press stamping capacity of 7,900 tons. This new line will stamp both steel and aluminum panels.

The Halewood facility currently manufactures the Land Rover Freelander 2 and the Range Rover Evoque.

Aida, a global manufacturer of metal stamping presses, will complete the installation of the new stamping line by the end of March 2014. JLR will begin trial pressings in April 2014.

The luxury carmaker will begin to use stamping panels across its models from summer 2014. The new line is expected to be fully operational by autumn 2014 and will feature a capacity of 20 stamps per minute.

Jaguar Land Rover Halewood operations director Richard Else said that this new press line reinforces JLR's long-term investment in UK manufacturing.

"This investment ensures we can make more panels, even more efficiently, and will continue to do so for many years to come," Else added.

The new line will improve the flexibility of the press shop, increase stamping capacity, boost the production speed and volume of panels at Halewood.
