LT8705 from Linear Technology operates over 2.8 to 80V input range and can produce a 1.3 to 80V at up to 250W, with up to 98% efficiency.
The topology is four switch (external n-fets), single inductor; and over 1kW can be delivered by paralleling.
Four feedback loops regulate input current, input voltage, output current and output voltage.
"The input current and voltage feedback loops can prevent overloading of solar cells or high impedance sources, and the output current loop can provide a regulated current for a battery charger." said Linear Tech. "It can also be used as a voltage stabiliser in automotive and telecom applications, and is an excellent choice for bidirectional super-capacitor back-up circuits."
Servo pins
For use with other control devices, servo pins indicate which feedback loops are active, and burst-mode can be engaged to save waste at low output current.
Features include a 3.3V/12mA linear regulator, adjustable soft-start, fixed 100kHz to 400kHz operating frequency and a +/-1% reference voltage (over -40 to 125°C).
Packages are 5x7mm 38pin QFN, and 38 lead TSSOP package, with additional pin spacing for high voltage operation.
