South Korean automotive giant Hyundai Motor’s India unit has shelved its plan to export Creta SUV from September to November-December to cater to the domestic demand.

The carmaker, which aims at boosting output to 7,000 units a month, stands at 40% higher than its previous plan of producing 5,000 units per month, according to a report by Economic Times.

The firm is executing an adjustment of its output schedules with the order book registering 32,000 units.

The sub-compact SUV 'Creta' has been built with Advanced High Strength Steel (AHSS) and Ultra High Strength Steel (UHSS). The model has been drawn from Hyundai Motor's evolved 'Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 Design philosophy'.

The Creta has a ring frame structure resulting in body stiffness and precise handling. The frames, when supplied to B-Pillar, C-Pillar and engine contribute to body rigidity and an improved crash performance.

Hyundai Motor India sales and marketing senior vice-president Rakesh Srivastava said: "We are delighted. We are increasing production to reduce waiting period."

The automobile manufacturer has sold via retail 8,000 cars and produced about 11,000 cars during the past couple of months. The waiting period stands between three months and nine months based on model and location.
