US-based packaging coatings firm Valspar announced the election of Gary E. Hendrickson, who had already been serving as president and chief executive officer, as its new chairman with immediate effect.
The new appointment comes as William L. Mansfield, who has been the chairman since 2007, retires from the Board of Directors.
Hendrickson joined Valspar's packaging business in 1994 and has held a variety of senior leadership roles, like Global Wood Coatings group vice president, Valspar Asia Pacific president, and Valspar Consumer business senior vice president.
Valspar lead director Jeffrey H. Curler said Gary's proven leadership, deep understanding of the coatings industry and his vision for Valspar's long-term growth make him uniquely qualified to lead our Board.
"His appointment completes the transition plan we have had in place since Gary became CEO a year ago. We thank Bill for his many contributions to Valspar and wish him well in his retirement." added Curler.
