US based vehicle manufacturer General Motors (GM) is planning to introduce its next-generation Chevrolet Spark mini car during the first half of 2015.
The manufacturer is reported to have postponed the launch of its revamped Aveo small car until 2016 and planning to start the production of two new models in South Korea.
GM spokesman Choi Jong-hak was quoted by Reuters as saying that the management had originally planned to launch the redesigned Aveo in late 2015, but the plan was pushed back.
"It also said it will produce the new Spark in the first half of 2015," Choi said.
The company produces the Spark and Aveo vehicle in South Korea and exports them to the US, Europe and other countries, while it manufactures the knock-down kits for assembly in Uzbekistan.
Spark was introduced in 2009 and has been manufactured at GM Korea's plant in the southeastern city of Changwon, while Aveo, which was introduced in 2011, is manufactured at its headquarters in Bupyeong.
In 2012, the manufacturer had sold 215,177 Spark cars in the home-market and abroad, while the exports contributed for about 70% sales.
Additionally, GM has postponed the launch of the new Chevrolet Cruze by a year from late 2014 to 2015, due to engineering changes.
