Farch Plast Inkes Agreement with PPI for The Use of Ultrazap Xtendapak Absorber in Trays

Farch Plast, an European food packaging firm, has inked a sales agreement with Paper Pak Industries (PPI) for the use of UltraZap XtendaPak absorber in its trays, designed for meat and fish packaging.

Placed underneath the packaged meat, the absorber limits the growth of bacteria while retaining juices of the product.

The company stated that testing in the laboratory revealed the reduction in bacterial formulation helps extend shelf life of meat and fish by up to two days, adding that the absorber would reduce wastage.

The PPI absorber has the same appeal as other existing products on the market and will therefore seem familiar to customers when it appears in Faerch Plast's trays, it added.

Faerch Plast UK managing director Joe Iannidinardo said, "The special feature of this new absorber is that it is activated when the packaged meat begins releasing juices on about the third day. The absorber then slowly emits CO2, over several days, keeping the bacteria level low and improving the meat's ability to retains its juices.

"This not only keeps the meat itself fresh, but also fresh in appearance, right up to the expiry date."

"We are now ready to launch PPI absorbers in the UK, and we look forward to putting the first absorbers in our trays," Joe concluded.
