The first image of an all-new compact crossover, dubbed the Honda Urban SUV concept,is set to make its world debut at the 2013 North American international auto show in Detroit on January 14.
Sharing its platform with the upcoming third-generation Honda Jazz, the new baby SUV–teased in sketch form–will be a global model that Honda says will combine a sporty and dynamic SUV profile with a spacious interior.
Sleek lines and a heavily raked rear side window give the appearance of a coupe while a strong detail from the doors to the C-pillar enhance the suggestion of sportiness.
As reported by CarAdvice last month,Honda Australia says the upcoming Jazz-based baby SUV joins the next-generation Civic Type-R at the top of its wish list for expanding the Japanese manufacturer's local line-up.
While the all-new Honda Jazz is due to debut internationally in 2013,ahead of landing locally the following year, the compact SUV is expected to arrive in 2014/2015 when it will compete with the likes of the Ford EcoSport,Holden Trax and Mitsubishi ASX.
With the fourth-generation Honda CR-V mid-size SUV now available from$27,490,the smaller Jazz-based SUV should start below the$25,000 mark.
The 2013 Detroit motor show will take place in Michigan from January 14–27.
