Nan Ya Photonics Inc Recently Unveiled an Automated Production Line for LED Bulb

Taipei, Dec. 24, 2012 (CENS)--Nan Ya Photonics Inc., a LED joint venture of the Nan Ya Plastics Corp. and Epistar Inc., recently unveiled an automated production line for LED bulb after nine months of development.

According to the LED venture’s president, B.R. Wu, automation achieves consistent quality in production, and that the line is designed to have maximum output of 400,000 bulbs a month, with initial output set at 100,000 bulbs a month.

Company Chairman Wilfred Wang estimated Taiwan’s market for LED bulbs at 1.5-2 million a year and the production line would eventually fill a quarter to one third of the demand. He said the production line is the first step of the company’s plan to make LED lighting consistent in quality and affordable to the general public.

He reported that in-situ tests in the company’s factories proved that the company’s LED T8 light tubes can save 40% more light than fluorescent light tubes and last much longer.

u pointed out that the company’s strategy emphasizes contract manufacturing and brand-name operation as well as overseas market over home market. The company is persuading General Electric (GE) and Philips to place outsourcing contracts with it so that it can ramp up production scale.

Wu estimated LED industry will not likely grow until 2014 and China’s profitless LED production with government subsidies will make 2013 another gloomy year for the LED industry.

Wu also urged that Taiwan government should come up with uniform specification standards for LED products, and that Taiwan is second only to China in terms of disorderly specifications.
