Material handling systems manufacturer and integrator Cornerstone Automation Systems (CASI) has redeveloped its existing carton packaging systems. The new large carton packaging systems operate by sorting empty cartons to pack stations automatically and accordingly sort items into the cartons.
After the completion of the packing process, the cases are conveyed, heat shrunk and manifested, ferret.com.au reported.
During the process, the orders are released to the CASI controller; and the boxes come off the CASIrector robotic case erector, which in turn are manually inducted to the sorter. The empty cartons, which travel along the conveyers situated within the carton packaging systems are inducted to the sorter.
The systems will instruct green light ton signal when packers are allowed to fill each of the cartons. The cartons, which are pushed through an automatic case sealer are prelined with a film for heat shrink. In order to ensure accuracy, each carton's ID is scanned and a shipping label is produced.
The new large carton packaging systems as claimed by the company reduce the number of touches required to fulfill each order.
