Mazor Robotics has obtained regulatory approval for its surgical robotic system, designed for use in spine procedures, in Taiwan.
The system, Renaissance, uses less radiation while performing complex spinal deformity cases as well as minimally invasive surgeries including scoliosis.
Numerous peer-reviewed publications and presentations have also validated the accuracy, usability, and clinical advantages of Mazor's technology, claims the company.
Mazor said the surgical guidance system will be made available to patients and hospitals in Taiwan by its distribution partner, Pinnaclemed, in the Asia Pacific region.
Mazor Robotics CEO Ori Hadomi said as part of the company's strategic global growth strategy, it is pleased to build on the base established in Asia.
"We made great inroads into the Asia Pacific region in 2012 and believe it offers strong growth opportunities for Mazor in the coming years," Hadomi added.
