Technology company Ecolab has launched Synergex, a mixed peracid sanitizer and disinfectant, for food and beverage processors to ensure food quality.
It also allows them to improve productivity, enhance workplace hygiene and safety, and reduce environmental impact.
Synergex has been designed to work on hard, non-porous surfaces and in clean-in-place (CIP) applications. The product when used alongside Ecolab's inline monitoring system, 3D TRASAR Technology for CIP, will assist food processors to increase productivity and minimize environmental damage.
3D TRASAR Technology for CIP is a real-time optimization program which uses advanced sensors to examine traced chemistry such as Synergex for improved visibility into critical cleaning and sanitizing process performance.
Automation of real-time data collection and analytics, along with Ecolab's 24/7 service and technical expertise, helps customers with necessary insights to optimize their operations.
Ecolab global food & beverage executive vice president and general manager Nick Alfano said: "When we combine Synergex with our 3D TRASAR technology and industry-leading technical expertise, we can provide greater visibility into our customer's most pressing and diverse challenges.
"Our technical experts analyze this information and partner with customers to implement corrective actions that help safeguard food safety."
Synergex also features an antimicrobial agent which assists in providing protection from several pathogenic microorganisms, yeast, mold and spoilage organisms. It also decreases day-to-day variability in quality levels.
Ecolab Food & Beverage research, development and engineering vice president Kristine Williams said: "For fresh milk, Synergex has been shown to reduce day-to-day process variability by up to 40 percent while increasing days of quality assurance by up to 15%.
"Increased quality assurance is critical as processors seek to expand distribution channels and offerings, reduce waste, and improve profitability in today's highly competitive market."
The product is also designed to improve plant productivity. The chemistry is claimed to be helpful in removing mineral, hard water, and milk soil and optimising CIP cycle time.
Synergex's closed-loop dispensing equipment, which features a quick-connect drum closure, intends to reduce exposure to the concentrated product. The product's formulation is claimed to have fewer volatiles than traditional mixed peracid and peroxyacetic acids, thereby improving air quality and reduce odor.
