General Motors(GM)US has registered sales of 245,733 vehicles in December 2012,a 5%increase over to the same period in 2011.
The company has seen an increase of 38%in its retail sales in December 2012 compared to November 2012 that added to the year over year sales.
GM US sales operations vice president Kurt McNeil said that all four GM brands increased their sales year over year in December and the company was strong across the board in cars,crossovers and pickup trucks.
"GM's strong finish in 2012,the industry's momentum and the overall health of the U.S.economy make us optimistic about 2013,"McNeil added.
The company has sold 14%more passenger vehicles in the month than the previous year,while crossover sales were up 2%.
Total car sales of the company in December compared with November 2012,were increased by 18%,whereas truck and crossover sales have seen a rise of 52%and 22%respectively.
The sales of models including the Buick Verano,Chevrolet Spark and Sonic have increased by 52%,the Chevrolet Cruze saw a 27%rise and 72%increase was seen in the sales of Chevrolet Volt in December 2012.
Cadillac sales were up by 64%,the Silverado surpassed the December 2011 sales by 6%and the GMC Sierra sales were 13%up compared to the corresponding month sales in 2012.
