Ashok Leyland Introduced New Neptune Engine to Enlarge its Engine Portfolio

Hinduja group subsidiary, Ashok Leyland has expanded its engine portfolio with the introduction of new Neptune engine for trucks.

The new engine will be available in BS-III and BS-IV compliant versions and is also package protected for BS-V and BS-VI emission standards.

Neptune engines are claimed to generate outputs ranging from 160hp to 380hp and will be used to power the company's range of trucks and buses in phases.

Ashok Leyland managing director Vinod Dasari said, "With Neptune, we are confident of strengthening our position in the medium and heavy commercial vehicle space."

According to the company, the Neptune engines offer better fuel efficiency, lower maintenance, longer life, greater reliability and better noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) characteristics.

The manufacturer has also launched a new truck called 'Sankagiri Express 3120', which is powered by the Neptune CRS engine that generates an output of 205hp when mated to the heavy-duty six-speed synchromesh gearbox.

Sankagiri Express 3120 comes with the twin steerable front axles, and the front semi-elliptic, multi-leaf suspensions.
