Japanese automaker Mitsubishi Motors is planning to launch the Outlander plug in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) in Japan on January 24, 2013.
The PHEV will be powered by a 4B11 2.0L four-cylinder gasoline engine and twin permanent magnet synchronous motors, positioned at front and rear to generate an output of 60kW each and torques of 137Nm and 195Nm at the front and the rear end respectively.
The power to the motor is provided by a lithium-ion battery comprising 80 cells in a pack that generates 300V and offers a range of 60.2km, while allowing charging by the engine in both standing and moving positions.
Featuring a 4WD with Super All Wheel Control (S-AWC), the PHEV recovers energy form regenerative braking, and offers three drive modes including, EV Drive , Series Hybrid , Parallel Hybrid Modes.
In addition, the new model comes with a front upper/middle grille, combination LED lamps with clear lenses, 18in aluminum wheels, LCD multi-information display system that comprises e-Assist and eco-driving support data as well as route guidance information.
