US-based Blend Therapeutics has appointed Mark Iwicki as its president, chief executive officer and a member of the board of directors.
Iwicki comes with more than 23 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry with experience in managing different stages of drug development and in multiple therapeutic areas.
Prior to joining Blend Therapeutics, Iwicki was Chief Executive Officer of Sunovion Pharmaceuticals and Chief Commercial Officer of Sepracor.
Blend Therapeutics founder and director Omid Farokhzad said with oncology as initial focus and multiple anti-cancer drugs in pipeline, the company will leverage the expertise of Mark, who has a long track record of success in the biopharma industry.
''The combination of his business leadership, strategic vision and drug development expertise will be a great asset as Blend capitalizes on the vast potential of its platform to develop entirely new classes of drugs to treat patients with cancer and other important diseases," Farokhzad added.
