Harrison Spinks Appoints Head of Business Change

One of Great Britain’s most established and innovative bed makers, Harrison Spinks, has appointed a finance and business expert as head of business change, in order to drive the company forward and achieve its vision to double its turnover within the next five years.

Andrew Salkeld has joined Harrison Spinks with more than 10 years’ experience in finance and business management, allowing him to bring a wealth of knowledge in corporate strategy, financial management and business intelligence to his new role.

Appointed into the newly-developed position, Andrew will work closely with the Harrison Spinks executive team to realise its aim of doubling the company’s annual turnover over the next five years.

After receiving a master’s degree in financial mathematics at the University of Leeds, Andrew originally trained as an accountant with PwC in Leeds, specialising in corporate finance working closely with business owners, management teams and private equity houses to help drive growth and create shareholder value.

Since then Andrew as worked with a number of organisations, including another local Yorkshire business, Symingtons, where he led the team in developing and implementing a business intelligence system to provide the executive team with timely and accurate information, allowing them to make more informed strategic and commercial decisions.

Speaking about his new role, Andrew says: “Having a background in finance and working with a variety of companies on finance, operations and strategy, I’ve built up a wealth of experience and knowledge on what drives successful and profitable businesses.

“With its sustainable ethos and world-leading spring technology, Harrison Spinks is a very exciting company to be involved with. I look forward to being a part of the team over the coming months and years, developing a sustainable growth strategy that not only outlines how the company can continue to innovate and grow successfully, but also how each Harrison Spinks employee can help contribute to the overall vision of where we see the business in the future.”

Prior to joining Harrison Spinks, Andrew worked as an independent business consultant for a number of start-up companies. Utilising his extensive industry knowledge, he has assisted fledgling businesses in getting off to the best possible start from a strategic perspective. Now Andrew looks to bring the start-up ethos of innovation, market disruption and commitment to Harrison Spinks to help the company stand out as a market leader.

MD at Harrison Spinks, Simon Spinks, says: “Andrew’s vast and varied business experience means he’s developed a skills set that will be extremely valuable to us in developing and growing Harrison Spinks over the months and years to come.

“It’s our vision to double the company’s turnover during the next five years, and with Andrew’s support, ideas and guidance, we feel we’ll be able to develop a business model that will enable us to meet this objective.”
