Biery Cheese Will Invest $19.7m to Upgrade Its Facility in Wood County

US-based Biery Cheese will invest $19.7m to upgrade its facility in Wood County, Wisconsin, a move which is expected to create 31 full-time jobs.

As part of the project, the company plans to buy new equipment and strengthen capabilities of the plant by 2018-end.

Biery will receive $1m in financing from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC), which encourages economic development efforts for business growth and job creation in Wisconsin.

WEDC secretary and CEO Reed Hall said, "There is no question that the cheese industry plays a significant role in Wisconsin's economy, and Biery's decision to expand its operations in the state will only strengthen the industry."

Biery Cheese CEO Ben Biery said, "It is a tremendous honour to be able to contribute to the area and invest in our people so that we can prepare for future strategic growth opportunities."

The cheese packaging, processing and distribution firm has been operating in the region since its acquisition of Kickapoo Valley Cheese in November 2013.
