Bridgestone (Wuxi) Tire, a group company of Japanese tiremaker Bridgestone, is set to invest CNY852m ($139m) to expand production capacity at its passenger car radial tire plant in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, China.
This move by the tiremaker is in response to the increasing demand for passenger car tires in China.
With this investment, the company plans to increase the production capacity at the plant by approximately 5,300 tires a day.
Expected to be complete in the second half of 2016, the total production capacity at this plant will be 22,600 tires per day.
Apart from this investment, Bridgestone Tire Manufacturing Vietnam also announced this month that it is planning to invest JPY41.6bn ($422.8m) in its new passenger car radial tires (PSR) plant in Hai Phong City, Vietnam.
The facility plans will increase the capacity by approximately 24,000 tires per day by the second half of 2017, and following the expansion, the plant's total capacity will be approximately 49,000 tires per day.
