Wycen Foods, a San Leandro, California-based establishment, is recalling about 809 pounds of Chinese style chicken sausages as they contain monosodium glutamate (MSG) which is not mentioned on the label.
The product subject to recall is Chinese Style Chicken Sausage produced on 12 June, 14 August, 4 September and 24 October, with a shelf life of one year. It was sold at a single San Francisco retail location.
The US Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) had identified the problem during label verification.
It stated that the problem occurred when the company changed the product's formulation to include MSG but failed to mention it on the label.

Classified as class III, the recall indicates a situation where the use of the product will not cause adverse health consequences.
