Wabco Has Acquired Contracts to Offer ABS to Six Trailer Manufacturers in Brazil

Wabco, a tier-one supplier to the commercial vehicle industry, has obtained contracts to supply anti-lock braking systems (ABS) to six trailer manufacturers in Brazil.

The contract follows the new legislation of the Brazilian federal government to increase vehicle and road safety by providing the commercial vehicles produced with ABS.

According to the law that was on effect from 1 January 2013 all the present trucks, buses and trailers and the vehicles that will be made from January 2014 must have ABS installed.

WABCO Americas president Nikhil Varty said: "As well as addressing the challenge of improving vehicle and road safety with its technologies, WABCO offers its customers the additional benefits of local application engineering, installation, release testing, homologation and training support."

The trailer manufacturers which ordered the ABS to the company include Facchini, Guerra, Rodofort, Usicamp and two other local manufacturers.

The ABS for trailers increases the efficiency brakes on road surfaces in all weather conditions by stopping the locking of the trailer's wheels when road friction is not enough to transmit braking forces that facilitate braking to take place when road conditions are wet, muddy or slippery.
