Uflex,a flexible packaging manufacturer based in India,is set to begin production at its first US polyester film facility by the end of this year as a part of its strategy for global expansion.
The company said that the facility is expected to be operational by December with an annual capacity of 30,000 tons,reported Foodproduction daily.com.
The US plant is a part of the company's$250m investment for global expansion announced in 2010 to cater to the demand for flexible packaging.
It will manufacture biaxally oriented polyester(BOPET)film,and the company plans to be double the production capacity of the plant.
Uflex currently operates five manufacturing facilities in India,Egypt,Dubai,Mexico and Poland.
Flex Films,a subsidiary of Uflex,produces BOPET,biaxially oriented polypropylene(BOPP)films and cast polypropylene(CPP)films for the bakery,confectionery and dairy industries.
