10, 000 Forester Wagons Will Be Recalled by Subaru in US and Canada

Subaru, the automobile manufacturing division of Fuji Heavy Industries (FHI), is planning to recall 10,000 units of Forester wagons in the US and Canada, over improperly manufactured mats.

The recall affects 2014 model year Foresters made during January-March 2013.

According to the company, the floor mats used in the vehicles can curl when exposed to heat and the problem was discovered in cars arriving at a port in Vancouver, Washington.

National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said that the mats could distract the driver or interfere with the clutch, brake or gas pedals, while the car is being operated leading to accidents.

Under the recall dealers will replace all four mats free of charge.

Earlier, the automobile manufacturer had recalled over 5500 vehicles in Australia, including 2459 units of the Subaru Impreza, 1455 units of XV and 1674 Forester models, due to a problem in wiring.
