Vie De France Yamazaki Plans to Shut Down Its Frozen Bread Manufacturing Facility in Bense

US-based Vie De France Yamazaki plans to shut down its frozen bread manufacturing facility in Bensenville, Illinois, as part of its efforts to consolidate production and control costs.

The company stated that closure of the plant on 27 April will result in 70 job losses.

Vie de France president and chief operating officer Sadao Yasumura said that the decision allows the company to consolidate production at obsolete Illinois facility to a high speed production facility in Georgia.

The company will also increase the varieties of frozen and par-baked bread products available.

Vie de France operates US baking plants in California, New York; and Virginia. Founded in 1971, the company manufactures and markets frozen unbaked, par-baked and fully baked pastries, cakes, croissants, breads, desserts, muffin batters, European-style bread and cookie dough.
