Gilbert Van Cutsem,senior vice president and general manager of the Database Division for Pervasive Software,has been named a Worldwide Who's Who Professional of the Year in Computer Software.While inclusion in Worldwide Who's Who is an honor,only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction.These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments,academic achievements,leadership abilities,years of service,and the credentials they have provided in association with their Worldwide Who's Who membership.
Mr.Van Cutsem became involved in his profession after receiving a degree in computer science.He then worked in IT departments for large corporations and went into a consulting role within the software industry.He has gained nearly three decades of experience in computer software and is responsible for overseeing the largest,most profitable Database Division.This entails designing and building the products,and overseeing strategic initiatives.In his leadership position,he must also work with the engineering,product management,marketing,sales,support and compliance departments.Additionally,he is charged with managing budgets and ensuring proactive client interactions.Mr.Van Cutsem is discovering that,in the software world,the vast majority of customers in his industry are not compliant.It is his goal to make them compliant;this entails building products in a way that they are made to be used,and utilized within policies and standards.
Mr.Van Cutsem received a master's degree in business economics in 1990 from the Faculte Universitaire Catholique de Mons and completed the masterclass in innovation and entrepreneurship in 2005 as a Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School Alumnus.He holds a post graduate degree in business administration,earned in 1983 at VLEKHO Business School;in 1982,he earned a bachelor's degree in computer science.
