Automotive driveline components manufacturer cDriveline has expanded its partnership with the German vehicle maker BMW to supply front axle for BMW X Series Sports Activity Vehicles that will be used to convert the rear-wheel drive vehicles to all-wheel drive.
GKN Driveline's plant in Newton, North Carolina will manufacture and deliver the front final drive units (FDU) for the current X3 from August 2013 and other high performance X models later in the year.
With the partnership, GKN expects to increase its sales, manpower and production as well as further speed up the transition from all-wheel drive component plant to an all-wheel drive systems provider.
GKN Driveline currently supplies sideshafts for the X Series models, as well as torque-vectoring units.
Currently, GKN Driveline's Newton facility supplies all-wheel drive systems including FDUs, to car manufacturers across the globe for a range of high performance all-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive vehicles.
In 2012, the GKN Driveline Newton had reported sales of over 1,000,000 units.
