Snow Phipps Group-owned Teasdale Foods has acquired Louisville, Kentucky-based Mesa Foods for undisclosed sum.
Founded in 1984, Mesa is a producer of private label tortillas, flatbreads, taco shells, taco kits and chips.
The acquisition is expected to strengthen Teasdale's presence in the Hispanic food category in the US.
Teasdale CEO said: ""Mesa adds tortillas to our portfolio, which are a core part of Hispanic snacking favorites such as quesadillas, wraps, fajitas, burritos and enchiladas.
"Teasdale offers all the product categories necessary to help bring the best of Hispanic food to consumers."
Following the acquisition, Mesa will continue to operate under Telsa as one of its division with the existing management team.
The transaction is expected to contribute to Snow Phipps' strategy of building a comprehensive Hispanic foods platform diversified across product, customer, channel and geographic exposure.
The deal will enable Teasdale to offer a full range of private label and branded Hispanic food products to a diverse customer base across various channels including retail, food service, restaurants and wholesale.
Teasdale's Chairman and Snow Phipps' Operating Partner Peter Shea said: ""Mesa rounds out Teasdale's product offering and will allow us to drive further growth by providing customers with best in class products, service, innovation and market insights."
Mesa is the third acquisition for Snow Phipps after acquiring Teasdale in October 2014.
In 2015, Teasdale acquired Jardine's Foods, a producer of natural and organic sauces including salsas, dips, quesos, BBQ and hot sauces, and Casa Fiesta, a provider of Mexican foods in the beans, peppers, sauces, corn products and seasonings categories.
Mesa is a portfolio company of Encore Consumer Capital. Lincoln International, a global mid-market investment bank, acted as the exclusive sell-side advisor to Mesa in the transaction.
