Lakeland Dairies has opened a €10m logistics facility at its foodservice dairy processing complex in Newtownards, County Down, Northern Ireland.
The new centre features advanced technology, robotic systems, 14,000 individual pallet spaces and loading capacity for up to 11 40ft container vehicles simultaneously.
The investment for the construction of the new facility was provided by Invest Northern Ireland.
The company has also overhauled its facilities for milk intake and processing with £1.5m financing from Invest Northern Ireland.
The Newtownards complex 12 production lines that produce over 100,000t of dairy products and 700 million individual products each year, including ice cream mixes, UHT milk, flavoured milk, milk portions, powdered desserts, added value dairy creams, cappuccino toppings, and ice cream powder.
The company sells 170 dairy foodservice and food ingredient products to 77 countries across the globe.
