The University of Warwick Has Been Selected as The Site for The Advanced Propulsion Centre

The University of Warwick has been selected as the site for the Advanced Propulsion Centre (APC), a £1bn project for the development of low carbon propulsion systems.

With a national Spoke network, the center will enable collaboration between SMEs, suppliers and vehicle manufacturers to create advanced powertrain solutions and supply chains.

The APC aims to secure more than 30,000 jobs in the R&D and vehicle powertrains segment as the industry shifts to a low carbon future.

APC chief executive Tony Pixton said: "The Advanced Propulsion Centre will support the UK automotive industry to become a global leader in the research, development and production of advanced propulsion systems.

"The University of Warwick will become the location of the Hub for the APC, at the centre of a Propulsion Nation, offering world class facilities and expertise as part of the ten year programme of activity."

Automotive Council co-chair business secretary Vince Cable said: "The Advanced Propulsion Centre is spearheading the UK's drive to develop new greener engines.

"The news that the University of Warwick will host the headquarters for the centre means we can accelerate our research into the next generation of automotive technology."

Earlier this year, the APC has committed to invest over £130m in the UK economy and plans to allocate up to £75m by the end of this year.
