Two New Operating Segments Are Splited by Federal-Mogul

Powertrain and safety technologies supplier Federal-Mogul has started operating as two business segments which include powertrain segment and vehicle components segment.

The powertrain uanit will focus on original equipment products for automotive, heavy duty and industrial applications.

Federal-Mogul's vehicle components unit will sell and distribute vehicle aftermarket products, as well as serve original equipment (OE/OES) manufacturers with vehicle producats.

According to the company, the operational segmentation will strengthen the focus on unique end-customer market requirements of the two different customer bases.

The powertrain operation includes 79 plants, 32,500 employees and in 2011 its sales totaled $4.2bn, while the aftermarket unit includes 31 plants,12,500 employees with 2011 sales of $3.1bn.

Federal-Mogul co-CEO and F-M Powertrain Segment CEO Rainer Jueckstock said, "The two operating segments will continue to be divisions of Federal-Mogul Corporation and continue to use the FDML stock symbol."

Federal-Mogul co-CEO and Vehicle Components Segment CEO Michael Broderick said, "The new organizational model allows for a strong product line focus benefitting both original equipment and aftermarket customers and will enable the global Federal-Mogul teams to be responsive to customers' needs for superior products and to promote greater identification with Federal-Mogul premium brands."
