Heartland Gourmet, a US-based establishment, is voluntarily recalling cookie mix in Canada as it may contain milk that is not mentioned on the label, according to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA).
The products subject to the recall include 16 oz Gluten Free Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix bearing UPC code 7376967020171 with best buy dates October and December 2014; and Gluten Free Double Chocolate Cookie Mix bearing UPC code 737697015306 with best by dates January 2014 and October 2014.
The recalled products also include 15.4 oz Gluten Free Pizza Crust Mix with UPC Code 737697020249 and Best buy date of September 2014.
This recall has been initiated after the routine sample testing conducted by Canada confirmed that the products carrying "Dairy Free" labels contained milk.
CFIA has collaborated with the various Canadian importers to have these products removed from the marketplace, and is monitoring the recall. No illnesses associated with the recall have been reported till date.
Consumption of these products may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to milk.
