German transport and logistics contractor Sostmeier has inducted 40 Mercedes-Benz Actros 1843 semitrailer tractors as part of its modernization drive for fleet expansion.
Sostmeier managing partner Wilfried Sotta said: "The vehicles impress with their high standards of quality, durability and technical innovation. This is backed up by an excellent service mentality."
"We in our industry bear a great responsibility for both humans and the environment. I feel this obliges us at all times to make sure that our vehicles are safe, efficient and economical on the road... For our long-distance drivers, the truck should not just be an ideal work machine, but must also provide a suitable living environment."
Sostmeier's fleet exclusively comprises Mercedes-Benz vehicles.
The Actros semitrailer tractors display OM 470 engine with a displacement of 10.7 liters and an output of 315 kW (428 hp). Its Predictive Powertrain Control (PPC) is capable of powering Mercedes PowerShift 3 transmission to press into action GPS map data for integrating the shift points with cruise control speed to the topography.
The Mercedes-Benz has also set a record at Sostmeier in which two million kilometres have been covered by a long-serving Mercedes-Benz Actros 2, model 1841, made in 2005 with a remanufactured engine, without displaying any notable failures.
This record was established by two professional drivers - Udo Kefrig and Ralf Anacker, having their innings with the firm 38 and 17 years, respectively.
