Chesapeake Raleigh Announced The Installation of CTP System as Part of a Capital Project

Chesapeake Raleigh has announced the installation of a new CTP system as part of a capital project for all US sites in a bid to do away with the usage of film by the end of 2013.

Chesapeake Raleigh plant manager Dean Robinson said the use of film introduces additional variables in controlling screens which has a direct impact on the ability of the company to manage color.

"Moving to a CTP workflow will allow us to control color effectively. The project also has a number of other direct benefits as well as complementing the Chesapeake 100 initiative through the removal of film and chemicals used to develop it," Robinson said.

Raleigh's pre-press workflow will be completely converted to digital from proof to plate, once complete.

The project is expected to improve print quality through plate image consistency and offer increased sharpness and detail. It will also remove the need to ship films between different Chesapeake locations, and help the plant meet its environmental goals.
