US based vehicle manufacturer General Motors will recall 114,000 Chevrolet Tavera sports utility vehicles (SUV) in India over fixing of the vehicle's emission standards and specifications.
The recall affects vehicles manufactured between 2005 and 2013, while the company has paused the production of the vehicles as they conflict with the Indian emission standards.
According to the company, its Tavera vehicle faces two issues that include the Bharat Stage 3 (BS3) model that has emissions-related issue, while the Bharat Stage 4 (BS4) Tavera doesn't meet certain specifications.
Currently, the company has paused production of the two Tavera models including the BS3 compliant 2.5L diesel engine model and the BS4 compliant 2L diesel model.
Under the recall, the company will replace the vehicles with a new solution, which is subjected to regulatory approval from Indian authorities.
Following approval from authorities for the proposed solution, GM india intends to resume production and sale of Tavera, and move forward with its recall and customer notification plan for both the BS3 and BS4 models.
