Virgin Media has selected the SageQuest, an enterprise fleet management solution from the Fleetmatics Group for the management of its 2,600 vehicle fleet in the UK and Ireland.
The company expects the SageQuest solution to offer fuel saving, improve driver safety as well as customer service.
Virgin Media Access executive director Maurice Daw said that SageQuest gives us an unbiased, real-time view of what is going on in the field with instant access to data, scaled so that any number of users can access the system without slowing or crashing.
"Virgin Media is confident it will see wide-ranging improvements through the use of the system," Daw said.
"We believe that selecting the right tools that will increase the safety of our technicians, reduce their drive times, improve our subscribers' experience and support our environmental initiatives will have a big payoff for us."
The fleet management solution will help in monitoring the speeding, fast cornering, hard braking and excessive acceleration, while provide alerts to the management.
Services of the SageQuest's fuel saving features include monitoring of engine idling and alerting the driver, combining Garmin vehicle navigation systems and Google maps capabilities to provide street views.
