Google's School of Android Wear Devices to Play Nice with iPhone

The Verge’s sources claim Google is ‘close’ to completing the necessary back-end work to enable cross compatibility with Apple’s range of smartphones.Currently, Android Wear watches only work with devices running Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and higher, but Google has broader ambitions, the report claims.

At ‘the current stage of development’ an Android Wear companion app for iOS, which delivers notifications, enables Google Now alerts and will soon support Google’s own suite of iOS apps like Gmail.

In general, Google tends to do well to support its software on iOS; so obviously, many have wondered whether Google would bring Android Wear support to iPhone users.

Google saved the best news for last: LG's G Watch is available to pre-order on the Play store today and Samsung's newly announced watch, the Gear Live, will also be up for pre-order on Google's store today for $200. (Neither appears to be on Play just yet, though.) The much-anticipated, round-faced Moto 360, however, won't be coming until later this summer. The Android Wear SDK is also available for developers with most of the API features included.
