American automotive company Ford Motor has unveiled the new 2015 Ford Edge crossover SUV, which is scheduled to launch in early 2015 across North America.
The new vehicle will also be sold in South America, Europe and Asia Pacific regions along with over 100 markets worldwide following the launch.
Ford Edge will be made available across North America in three engine variants including the standard 2L EcoBoost engine revamped to offer better fuel economy and performance as well as a normally aspirated 3.5L V6 engine.
The vehicle's Sport model will feature Ford's most advanced EcoBoost engine till date, the 2.7L V6, and standard 21-inch wheels.
Ford Motor Company incoming president and CEO Mark Fields said the company understands how global consumers are changing, anticipates their needs, and ultimately delivers the great products they want.
"This new Edge is an excellent example of Ford at its best," Fields added.
The crossover SUV's deign was inspired from the truck-based SUVs in order to provide better on-road comfort, fuel efficiency and overall driving dynamics to meet needs of customers.
Claimed to be larger than its predecessor, the new Edge is four-door, five-seat vehicle available with front camera, improved active park assist system and an advanced adaptive steering system.
Ford Edge features auto start-stop technology and smart air inlets at the front that can direct air along the vehicle sides to enable better aerodynamic efficiency.
Other technology features of the vehicle include Ford's hands-free liftgate, SYNC with MyFord Touch, adaptive cruise control and inflatable rear safety belts.
