Nissan Has Announced a New Technology for The Light Commercial Vehicles

Japanese carmaker Nissan has unveiled a new technology for the light commercial vehicles that uses smartphones to offer safety as well as performance data to drivers and fleet managers in real time.

The new IT system is claimed to be able to reduce running costs by remotely monitoring maintenance information and the driving behavior.

With the system, drivers will also obtain the real-time information that would help them to operate the vehicles more safely.

The system links a smartphone or other connected device to the vehicle's IT system wirelessly, while offering security and the data is uploaded to the cloud using the mobile telephony network and can be accessed by fleet managers from far away.

The manufacturer plans to install the system in the vehicles scheduled to be launched in the future to offer low price dedicated car navigation system for businesses.

Services offered by the new IT system for drivers include: notify when the vehicle exceeds preset speed, eco-driving and smart driving diagnosis results and automated notification of charging spots when battery capacity is low in electric vehicles (EV).

The system offers vehicle operation managers services including function for confirming vehicle location, vehicle maintenance information, eco-driving and smart driving diagnosis results of each driver.

Additionally, the system will also give access to the electricity mileage information and function for confirming charging status and battery condition in EVs.
